Blues' Transfer Boost as Laporte Returns to Training

CITY transfer target Aymeric Laporte has given the Blues a major boost by returning to training ahead of schedule.

The 22-year-old Atheltic Bilbao defender was being lined up as one of Pep Guardiola's first targets of the summer until he suffered a nasty ankle fracture and dislocation while playing for France under-21s against Scotland in March.

An initial prognosis suggested the player, seen as one of the most talented young players in Spain, would be out for at least four months, and that would have meant he could miss the start of the season if City do stump up a fee reputed to be around Pounds 40m.

But Laporte - who was named in the La Liga team of the year in 2014 - has tweeted video footage of himself running and turning with a ball at Bilbao's training ground at Lezama, raising hopes that he will be fit for the start of next season, whether he joins the Blues or not. …
