NEW THEATER

The cornerstone is laid for the New St. Louis Theater, the first real theater in the city. It features individual seats instead of benches, a 50-foot dome and a parquet floor at the corner of Third and Olive streets.

HEADS UP

RACES FOR TRAILS DAY

Celebrate National Trails Day with a competitive 15- or 30-mile mountain bike race or a 10K Trail Run on June 4 at Indian Camp Creek Park.

Festivities begin at 7:45 p.m. with the Sunset Sizzler Mountain Bike Race. All riders must wear a helmet and have a 200-lumen light or greater to participate. Awards will be presented to top finishers. After the bike race, live entertainment will be featured from 9-11 p.m., and food and drink will be available to purchase. Overnight camping is available and included in the entry fee.

After the music, the Dark 2 Dawn Trail Run, an all-night 10K race, begins at midnight and ends at 6 a. …
