Senior safety Davon Jacobs, a DePaul graduate, has decided to transfer from Rutgers. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Jacobs, who is from Paterson, had 16 tackles in four games during an injury-plagued campaign last season in which he suffered a concussion. Jacobs had 80 tackles, three sacks and one interception in 29 games for the Scarlet Knights. His lone pick came during the second of Rutgers's win over Michigan in October 2014 -- the Scarlet Knights' first Big Ten triumph.

Jacobs didn't return a voicemail message from The Record on Tuesday. He told Gannett New Jersey that Rutgers "wasn't the best fit for me" but didn't elaborate further.

Jacobs didn't seem to be in contention for a starting role during spring practice, and likely wouldn't have had much playing time in Rutgers' secondary this season. …
