Boy Blues Make History as They Taste Life Stateside

CITY'S Under-13s Academy team will travel to San Diego this week to take part in the MCFC Americas Cup.

It's the first time any English side has sent an Under-13s team to play an organised tournament in the States, something the club's academy coaches are hoping will contribute to the development of the players both on and off the field.

The youngsters will compete against teams from across the US and Mexico, including Houston Dynamo, Crossfire Premier and San Jose Earthquakes.

City's academy staff are keen to increase the number of tournaments their young players are involved in, with the opportunity to play against different styles seen as crucial.

"Travelling all the way to California to compete in the Americas Cup is a fantastic opportunity for our players," said Gavin Rhodes, head of City Football Schools. …
