CITY Women had to be content with a point after a goalless draw at Liverpool.

Nick Cushing's side were aiming to kick on after their win last week over title rivals Chelsea, but struggled to impose themselves at Widnes.

While substitute Izzy Christiansen nearly nicked it for the Blues in injury time, it was a game of few chances between the teams.

Liverpool's best effort also came in the second half when Rosie White saw her header from a corner come back off the crossbar.

The stalemate brings to an end City's 100 per cent start to the season, although six wins and a draw from their opening seven league games is still impressive form - and a significant improvement on their previous two campaigns.

Karen Bardsley and the team are also yet to concede a goal in the league. …
