Boss Superfan Left Dancing in Dark as Jams Scupper Gig

A Bruce Springsteen superfan missed out on seeing his idol perform for the 150th time following traffic chaos in Manchester city centre.

Andrew McMenemy, 52, began his journey to the Etihad Stadium from his home in Gravesend, Kent, at 11am on Wednesday.

But the early 6.30pm start of the show - combined with rush-hour traffic and disruptions on the Metrolink - caused roads to become gridlocked.

Andrew, a surgery manager, reached the M6 around 3pm thinking he would arrive with time to spare - but as soon as he attempted to get into Manchester he became stuck in traffic jams.

The music fan was trapped on the M602 for an hour and 45 minutes. By the time he reached the Regent Road roundabout, he realised he had missed the start of the gig.

Andrew, who has travelled as far afield as Australia and South Africa to see The Boss, decided to turn back home. …
