The Post-Gazette is running regular full-page ads from Verizon begging for workers to fill in for those on strike. Given the cost of these advertisements, wouldn't it make more sense for Verizon to be working out a deal with its workers so that they can get fair pay?

I am a social worker at a senior high-rise. One of our residents has been without phone service for three weeks now. We have called Verizon more than a half-dozen times, logging more than five hours dealing with the strike replacements. Several scab workers have come out and have claimed to either have fixed the problem, that it's not their job or that the fix is to disconnect some item from her apartment (splitter, one of her phones, etc.).
