Lighting the Fuse on Pyrofest 2016

PyroFest 2016, pyrotechnics festival that combines music and fireworks, will light up the sky over Cooper's Lake Campgrounds, in Slippery Rock, Butlr County this weekend.

"It is a combination of a music festival, a food festival and kid's festival," director Derek Weber says. "The crowd ranges from teenagers to grandparents."

The first Pyrofest in 2012 had a crowd of 3,000. Last year the crowd was about 15,000 people.

"Each year we expand everything: the music, the kids zone and the fireworks," Mr.Weber said. "Most people stay for the weekend as it builds."

Rusted Root, the Sunday night headliner, is best known for the hit "Send Me On My Way," and the band recently toured with the Wailers, as well as Santana and the Dave Matthews Band.

The four main firework shows use unique pairings of music and pyrotechnics. …
