Soccer Game Planned Sunday in Memory of Accident Victim

The inaugural George Washington High School girls soccer alumni game will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Friends of Coal Fields at Trace Fork in South Charleston. The year's game will be dedicated to the memory of Carli Sears, a 20-year-old Charleston woman who died in a hit-and-run in Morgantown this past January. She was a former member of the team.

"She made everyone feel important in her own way, said Maddie Wymer, a friend of Sears. "[The game] is in memory of her.

Wymer grew up with Sears, and smiled at her memories of the two playing soccer together.

"Carli always made practices so much fun, said Wymer. "She's still here and still around, in my mind.

Wymer remembers the carpools their parents shared with another teammate and friend, Stephanie Kelly. …
