RIVERDALE -- The Borough Council has voted to remove Glenn Venza from the Planning Board, as the board requested after he allegedly made insulting remarks toward residents and borough employees in a February Facebook post.

Venza defended his actions at a public hearing preceding the council's 4-2 vote on Wednesday. He referred to his alleged comments as "banter" and "locker-room humor" and said they were not meant to be insulting.

Venza also said those comments had nothing to do with his volunteer position on the Planning Board. The comments did not mean he was unable to objectively rule on Planning Board applications, he said.

Councilmen Garrett Astarita and Bradley Clinton voted against his removal.

Both Astarita and Clinton agreed that although Venza's alleged comments were distasteful, they did not warrant his removal from the board. …
