Man Denies Guilt in Assault on Jail Nurse

A Hackensack man who is charged with murdering his wife entered a not-guilty plea Monday on a new charge that he assaulted a male nurse at the Bergen County Jail.

Superior Court Judge Susan Steele ruled that Thomas Fabbricatore, 66, will remain at the Ann Klein Forensic Center, a psychiatric facility in West Trenton, for at least six more months.

Fabbricatore was sent to Ann Klein in August 2015 because issues were raised about his competency to stand trial, his attorney Diane Lucianna said.

Fabbricatore is suffering from dementia that is likely related to Alzheimer's disease and likely has a bipolar disorder, according to a medical report presented in court Monday, which also stated he is "unlikely to regain competency."

Lucianna said that Fabbricatore has been "cooperative" and has not had any behavioral problems since being moved to the psychiatric facility. …
