Wider Curfew Eyed after Stabbing

PATERSON -- A 26-year-old Haledon man was stabbed early Monday while leaving a restaurant on a stretch of Union Avenue where the City Council had denied the Police Department's request for an expansion of Paterson's business curfew.

The man suffered a 6-inch laceration across his forearm when he tried to block the attack, police said. The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. outside El Fogon Restaurant and was the second violent assault at that location in about six weeks.

Police previously reported that a man was hit in the face with a bottle on April 24 while he was leaving the restaurant, between Kearny and Jasper streets, at about 8:30 p.m.

The Police Department earlier this year had asked the council to expand the city's business curfew to include that area of Union Avenue. …
