WE like to think the Queen will be enjoying a tipple or two on Saturday to celebrate her 90th birthday. And pubs across Manchester will certainly be raising a glass to Britain's longest-reigning monarch after being granted longer opening hours for the occasion. We'll drink to that!

Landlords won't have to close up until 1am on Friday and Saturday - and they don't have to apply for any special licence to do so.

The extended times helpfully coincide with the start of the Euro 2016 football tournament in France this weekend, including England's first game, which kicks off on Saturday at 8pm against Russia.

David Cameron announced the news in Parliament back in March, saying: "I can make one announcement today which is that, subject to the usual conditions, we will be extending pub opening hours on the 10 and 11 of June this year to mark Her Majesty The Queen's 90th birthday. …
