ASTUNNING-looking machine that returned a fantastic 65mpg, had room for ve adults and their luggage and came with a realistic price tag. Just what most of us would happily settle for in a set of wheels.

Well, that's what you got from Korean giants Hyundai with their sleek, familysized i40.

Arriving hard on the heels of the i40 Tourer estate car, the four- door saloon was blessed with the same owing lines as its load- lugging sibling. So boy, did this baby look the part.

While obviously missing out on some low end grunt when making a quick getaway or overtaking, it still produced 192lb/ft from between 1,250 and 2,750revs, powering the i40 to 62mph from standing in 12.3 seconds and giving it a top speed of 119mph.

e i40 came kitted out with a collection of the latest active and passive safety technologies for maximum protection for those inside. …
