The most successful season in Penn-Trafford boys volleyball history came to an end Wednesday, one win short of a PIAA championship berth.

The Warriors, who claimed their first WPIAL title May 27, dropped a 3-1 decision to District 3 champion Penn Manor in the semifinals of the PIAA Class AAA tournament, a match played at Chambersburg High School.

Penn Manor posted a 25-20 victory in the first set, but Penn-Trafford countered with a 25-21 win to tie the best-of-five match.

Penn Manor clinched the victory and earned its first PIAA title berth with wins of 25-13 and 25-22 in the final two sets.

Brandon McGowan led the Warriors with 19 kills, while Brendan O'Toole had 14.

"Penn Manor had an outside hitter [Sam Greenslade] who took over the match at times," Warriors coach Jim Schall said. …
