Downtown Topeka Inc. will launch a Second City Summer Concert Series as a way to make the summer month's second weekends as lively as the first ones are because of ARTSConnect Topeka's First Friday Artwalks. Kangaroo Ali, the Topeka band that describes itself as a rock 'n' roll, groove and soul act, will headline the first show. It will start at 6:30 p.m. Saturday on S.W. 8th between Kansas Avenue and Jackson Street, with Oceanside Hotels, of Topeka. Manhattan's Parallel Pitch will precede Kangaroo Ali.

Patrons of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th, have a choice of four movies they can see for free Friday. The Classic Film Series will show "Kes" at 2 p.m. in one section of Marvin Auditorium, while "Inside Out" is shown in another section as this week's Friday Flicks. …
