Paterson Robbery Suspect Runs into Path of Cop Car

PATERSON -- A 27-year-old city man wanted on a warrant for a violent robbery was arrested after a chase that ended when he ran into the path of a pursuing Passaic County Sheriff's Office squad car and suffered a minor leg injury, authorities said Thursday.

Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said Warrant Squad Cpl. Joseph Camisa and Sgt. Raphael Garcia were on patrol on North Main Street on Wednesday when they spotted Eshan McQueen standing with a group of other men.

McQueen was wanted in connection with an earlier robbery in which the victim was poked in the eye, suffering permanent loss of sight in that eye, Berdnik said.

When the detectives stopped their patrol car, Berdnik said, McQueen started running toward Stout Street, ignoring commands to stop.

McQueen darted between parked cars as he tried to elude the pursuing detectives, Berdnik said, adding that as McQueen approached North Main Street and Haledon Avenue he ran into another squad car with two more detectives in it. …
