Commercial scrap and metal recycler Park Stein Inc. of Clifton faces fines of about $121,000 after the company was named by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration as a "severe violator'' for 16 safety and health violations in its car-crushing operation.

The company, at 613-614 Route 46 east in Clifton, was issued citations for one willful violation, eight repeat, five serious and two other-than-serious violations.

OSHA began the inspection of the company on Dec. 4, when the city of Clifton reported potential hazards at the facility.

Inspectors issued a willful violation after they discovered that the company failed to maintain a front-end loader properly, a condition that they said exposed employees to hazards. …
