Tensions over Teacher Pay Continue at Lindbergh Schools

Tension continues to escalate between Lindbergh teachers and school district administration over a salary schedule that goes before the School Board Tuesday night.

The proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year would give the teachers a 1.25 percent pay raise but no step advancement on the salary scale. Step increases are typically based on years of experience and education level. Teachers call the lack of advancement "disrespectful," and rejected the proposal late last month by a vote of 203 to 1.

"It hurts people for years and years to come by not moving us a step," said Gretchen Moser, vice president of the Lindbergh National Education Administration.

District administrators have said they cannot allow teachers to move up the salary schedule because of the costs associated with growth. …
