TULSA - The Philbrook board of trustees on Wednesday announced that Scott Stulen will be the museum's next director.

Stulen, who is currently the curator of audience experiences and performance at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, will begin at Philbrook on Aug. 22.

He will replace Rand Suffolk, who left Philbrook last year for a job as director of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Suffolk joined Philbrook as director in 2007.

"Stulen exemplifies everything we were looking for in our next director," said Bill Thomas, chairman, Philbrook board of trustees. "Not only is he regarded as one of the nation's rising stars in art museum management, but he shares the Philbrook philosophy of an art museum's role in society, which is to be open, community-centric and inspirational. …
