While I was growing up, the statement "equal justice for all" was rammed into my head as a primary American principle.

Recently, in Westmoreland County, two people were found guilty of third-degree murder.

The first was Ian Bishop, age 16. He was found guilty of killing his brother, Adam. He received a sentence, from Judge Debra Pezze, of 20 to 40 years in prison. The other was Dr. Karl Long, age 45. He was found guilty of killing his wife, El aine. He received a sentence, from Judge William Ober, of five to 10 years.

Does this mean that Ian Bishop was four times more guilty than Karl Long or is our Westmoreland County judiciary saying that wives are worth that much less than brothers?
