The Doc Is in for Marshall

Article excerpt

Marshall football coach Doc Holliday earned a reputation by learning south Florida and mining the area for talent. It would stand to reason, then, he'd be in South Beach or Fort Lauderdale or some other nice vacation spot about now, right?

"Not now, Holliday countered from his office on Monday. "All our new kids are on campus, so we're here. We had camps. We just finished six straight days of camps. We have our 7-on-7 and lineman camps Wednesday and Thursday.

Part of the preparation, of course, is the aforementioned recruiting process. In that regard, MU is doing what it can.

"Camps are part of the evaluation process, but coaches aren't allowed off campus at this point, Holliday said. "We are, though, participating in satellite camps. We have guys participating in like five of them in Florida this coming week. We have guys going to Virginia Tech and Ohio State. We're going a lot of places.

Holliday is a big believer in the controversial satellite camps. …
