COTPA Proposes Bus Service Reduction

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority on Thursday said it is proposing to eliminate the contracted transportation service known as Link.

The proposed service reduction is due to budgetary reductions resulting from a decline in municipal sales tax revenue, according to COTPA.

Embark, Oklahoma City's bus system, is a business unit of COTPA.

Link is a contracted service that operates in a limited service area from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays and from 7 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday. The proposed elimination would not affect regular fixed-route or paratransit services.

"Anytime we're faced with a budget reduction we strive to protect service levels," said Jason Ferbrache, COTPA administrator and director of public transportation and parking for Oklahoma City. …
