NORTH HALEDON -- Dan Mullin admitted to feeling nervous Tuesday night at the Passaic County Coaches' Association all-county awards dinner at The Tides banquet hall.

Ultimately the Lakeland student had nothing to worry about, as he was named the PCCA's Male Athlete of the Year over Kennedy's Nazier Wright (football, track) and Passaic Tech's Tarin Nelson (cross- country, track). A three-sport athlete, Mullin was recognized for his accomplishments with the school's ice hockey, football and track teams.

"It means everything," Mullin said of the award. "All my hard work has paid off and the people that helped me to get here truly did their job."

Mullin, who will attend the University of New Hampshire to play hockey, is best known for his accomplishments in the rink. A captain at Lakeland, he finishes his high school career with 200 total points, good enough for second all time in school history. …
