If you're in the market for an impressive red for Father's Day and want something different from a cabernet or merlot, consider a wine from Spain's Rioja. Located in the northern part of the country, Rioja is Spain's most famous wine-growing region and the first to receive DOCa status, Spain's highest category for an appellation. Within Rioja, wines are classified as Cosecha (Joven), Crianza, Reserva or Gran Reserva based on how long they have been aged.

Reserva wines, which can be found for less than $25, offer wonderful value for the money as they are required to be aged a minimum of three years, with at least one year of that time in oak. The Reserva below comes from the highly respected Marqus de Murrieta, and the grapes are grown in an area known as Rioja Alta, which produces some of the region's best wines.
