WITH four massive home town shows on the horizon, The Stone Roses opted to add on some warm up gigs to get themselves show sharp.

We popped along to their first last minute gig at Halifax's Victoria Theatre - the show they called 'the gig with no name' so even the wristband printers couldn't figure out the secret - and here's what we learned about the current Roses live set from it.

Their songs are ageing like a fine wine No one ever doubted the quality of that back catalogue, but it isn't getting any younger. Happily, it seems to get bigger and bolder with age. The rare return of Begging You - reportedly last seen on a playlist in 1996 - was a particular treat.
