A NEW TV appeal has been issued over the mistaken identity murder of Halton McCollin at a takeaway in Trafford eight years ago.

Halton, 20, a promising footballer from Chorlton, was shot in the back of the head as he ran from gunmen with friends inside the China Garden takeaway on Chester Road in Stretford. He died from his injuries three days later.

Detectives believe Halton, an insurance centre worker who played for Flixton FC, was targeted in a case of mistaken identity. No one has ever been arrested over his murder.

Halton's friends joined forces to pay glowing tributes to his character.
