Port Authority May Sell 8-Acre Site to Developer Bid for Robinson Land Is $1.06M

Port Authority is on the verge of selling nearly 8 acres of property from a failed attempt to set up a multi-modal facility in Robinson to a Washington County developer.

An authority board committee has recommended the agency sell the land on Montour Church Road to developer Stoehr Development Inc. of Canonsburg for $1.06 million. The board, which set a minimum bid of $845,000, will vote Friday.

Port Authority bought the property in 2001 with plans to work with Robinson and North Fayette on a multi-modal facility that would include a park-n-ride lot near The Pointe at North Fayette shopping center.

The property is in Robinson, but the only access is via Montour Church Road in North Fayette. The project failed when officials were unable to get federal highway funds to widen the road at two points and the authority reimbursed North Fayette $415,000 in engineering fees the township paid trying to develop the project. …
