OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma Gas & Electric is donating 1,000 electric fans to social service agencies serving low-income and elderly residents in 12 communities across its service area in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

"We want these customers to stay cool this summer, so we're working in partnership with agencies in the local communities, who work directly with those in need," said OG&E spokeswoman Kathleen O'Shea.

In Oklahoma City, fans will be delivered to the Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command, Areawide Aging Agency and Community Action Agency.

Fans will be distributed to elderly and low-income residents based on each agency's criteria.

OG&E also announced that it has partnered with nearly 300 local libraries, shopping centers, senior centers, churches and other locations throughout its service area to open Cool Zones, which provide heat-wary residents a respite during the hottest times of the day. …
