The annual free Community Garden Party will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Mattress Factory museum, 505 Jacksonia St., North Side. The all-ages event includes a hula-hooping workshop with Pittsburgh Flow Collective, a visit with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, creative activities with Artists Image Resource, photo booth mug shots with thefishstep, and exploration with City of Play. Theresa Brown appears at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland, at 6 p.m. as part of the Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures Made Local series. Ms. Brown is a registered nurse and author of "The Shift: One Nurse, Twelve Hours, Four Patients' Lives" - a vivid firsthand account of what nurses do day in and day out. The Chamber Choir of the Pittsburgh School for the Choral Arts will perform at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, presented by the church's Music for Midsummer Nights series. Chamber Music Pittsburgh presents Third Coast Percussion at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty, at 7:30 p.m. The Chicago-based percussion quartet, formed in 2005, will play works by Augusta Read Thomas, Steve Reich, John Cage, Thierry De Mey and others. Quartet members are Sean Connors, Robert Dillon, Peter Martin and David Skidmore. There's a pre-show mixer at 6:30 p.m. The ticket price include refreshments from The Livermore.
