Preliminary Hearing Set for Jacob Ewing, 21, Charged with Three Separate Sex Crimes

Jacob C. Ewing, a 21-year-old Jackson County resident arrested in connection with three separate sex crimes, appeared Monday morning in Jackson County District Court to set a date for his preliminary hearing.

The hearing, which will address all three incidents and the 13 charges against Ewing, including rape, aggravated criminal sodomy and battery, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, July 28.

Until the court date, Ewing will remain released under the stipulations of a recognizance bond set by Judge Norbert Market Jr. on June 17. It states Ewing is to be electronically monitored, have no social contact with women who aren't immediate relatives and abstain from drug or alcohol use.

Ewing was first arrested on May 6 in connection with the rape and battery of an 18-year-old woman. …
