Business Owner Pleads Guilty Doughnut Shop Founder Admits He Cheated on Taxes

The founder of the popular Peace, Love and Little Donuts chain that started in the Strip District seven years ago pleaded guilty Monday to cheating on his taxes and hiding the doughnut business from U.S. bankruptcy court.

Ron Razete entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Donetta Ambrose, who set sentencing for Oct. 25.

Mr. Razete of Moon was named June 6 in a federal complaint charging him with filing a false income tax return and concealing assets, both felonies.

The U.S. attorney's office said the tax charge relates to 2010, when he said he earned $16,000 when he really brought in about $194,000. He was also accused of hiding income from the doughnut company in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in 2011.
