Texas IndyCar Race Is Delayed by Rain

FORT WORTH, Texas * The IndyCar Series race in Texas was set to go deep into the night Saturday night.

After several periods of rain earlier Saturday, it was taking an extended time to dry the 1 1/2-mile Texas Motor Speedway track even after the sky cleared considerably late in the afternoon.

IndyCar and track officials initially pushed the scheduled green flag back nearly an hour to 8:45 p.m. (St. Louis time). But at that time, the cars were still in the garage area and crews were still working to dry the track. The race still had not started as of 11 p.m., but no word on a postponement had been announced officials were still trying to eventually run the race at that point.

Carlos Munoz won the pole on Friday. Munoz had a two-lap average of 217.137 mph Friday at the high-banked speedway to earn the pole just ahead of defending race winner Scott Dixon. …
