Mets rookie Matt Reynolds hadn't played outfield during his pro career, neither in the majors nor minors.

So he borrowed a glove from 2014 Gold Glover Juan Lagares, who is on the disabled list.

"That's a good glove to have," Reynolds said with a smile.

It worked well enough for Reynolds to handle three chances flawlessly, but his bat was what made the Mets' day.

Reynolds, who started in left field, hit his first career home run, an opposite-field blast to right on a 1-0 fastball off reliever Joakim Soria (3-3) with two out in the sixth.

The homer broke a 3-3 tie.

The go-ahead hit "was probably one of the biggest moments," Reynolds said. "I've had in my career as a baseball player, not just professionally. ... I knew I hit it well. …
