Scouting report * The Cardinals will pay their first visit to Seattle since 2002 when they lost two of three games. The teams' other three interleague series all have been in Busch Stadium, with the Cardinals winning seven of nine.

Seattle has three players with 15 or more home runs before the All-Star break Robinson Cano (19), Nelson Cruz (18) and Kyle Seager (15) for the first time since 2000 when Alex Rodriguez, Edgar Martinez and Jay Buhner comprised the trio. Third baseman Seager, the older brother of Los Angeles Dodgers rookie shortstop Corey Seager, has 30 homers and 39 doubles in his last 163 games dating to last season. With one more homer, Cano will have a seventh season of 20 or more home runs. He would be the sixth second baseman to achieve that feat, led by Jeff Kent's 12 seasons with 20 or more homers.

Lefthander James Paxton, who will start Sunday for the Mariners, got a win for Seattle in St. Louis on Sept. 14, 2013 when he blanked the Cardinals on two hits for six innings. …
