OAKLAND -- Travis Smith, a school administrator in Clark, has been chosen by the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education to serve as the next principal of Ramapo High School.

Smith, 41, will serve effective Aug. 15 to June 30, 2017, at a pro-rated salary of $155,000. He will succeed Louis Moore, who has been principal for almost nine years. Moore submitted his resignation in April to take the helm of the Red Bank Regional High School District.

Superintendent of Schools Beverly MacKay said Smith, appointed on June 13, remained a standout candidate throughout the vetting as the applicants were narrowed by a committee of nine.

"Pretty much we tried to have a committee that was representative of every walk of school life so that we had all the interests represented around the table," MacKay said. …
