WASHINGTON * A suburban Washington, D.C., man has been arrested and accused of making Twitter threats to shoot members of Congress, including Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., according to media reports and Blunt's spokesman.

The local NBC affiliate identified the man as Kyler Schmitz, an Uber driver from Alexandria, Va., and said that he was ordered detained on Monday until further court proceedings. A defendant named Kyler Schmitz was scheduled for a federal court hearing on Monday in Alexandria, according to the court docket.

The tweets were sent after the June 12 Orlando, Fla., nightclub shooting, and were directed at Republican members of Congress, NBC4 reported.

Brian Hart, a spokesman for Blunt, said Monday that threatening tweets had been directed at Blunt's Twitter account. …
