Pti Unveils New Name and Look, Adds Degrees

Sometimes a small change can represent a large success.

On Tuesday, Greg DeFeo, president of the Pittsburgh Technical Institute, unveiled the school's new moniker and stylized logo - changing the school's name from the Pittsburgh Technical Institute to Pittsburgh Technical College.

"It's a recognition of the past 70 years and really more so where we are today," Mr. DeFeo said. "Adding the word 'college' to our name is really something our alumni, our employers and our students wanted."

In addition, Mr. DeFeo announced that the college will soon offer two bachelor's degrees to accommodate the school's growing enrollment and commitment to the needs of the regional workforce.

The four-year degrees will be in business administration and information systems and technology, and are likely to be implemented into the school's curriculum by the end of the year.

Enrollment at the school has grown consistently since its start in 1946, when it was located Downtown and offered only one degree. …
