THE Greater Manchester economy slowed in the second quarter of 2016, according to the latest Quarterly Economic Survey results released by Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Almost 350 businesses completed the survey, which took place prior to the EU Referendum betyween May and June.

Within the survey, which was sponsored by Duff & Phelps, businesses were asked about how they currently viewed the business climate, their confidence levels going forward and intentions to recruit and invest.

Christian Spence, head of research and policy at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: "This quarter's results show that the Greater Manchester economy has lost some momentum into the second quarter, though the overall growth rate is similar to that before the recession.

"It looks like the very strong growth, both faster than the historic trend and that of the UK overall, experienced over the past few years has settled down to more normal levels. …
