Sauer, Robert Wayman died peacefully at home in Palm Harbor, Florida, on June 24, 2016. He was born November 17, 1923 in St. Louis. After graduation from University City High School, he attended Washington University, joined the U.S. Navy, and graduated from Iowa State College as an ensign with a degree in mechanical engineering.On May 26, 1945, he married Meredith Anne Pemberton which he always considered to be the #1 event of his life. Bob spent his entire working career at L.E. Sauer Machine Company, which was founded by his father in 1926. He and his older brother Louis took over from their father and, together, developed the Sauer System of rotary die-cutting equipment that helped revolutionize the corrugated box industry. The company continues to operate under the leadership of Bob and Meredith's son, Warren. …
