QI HAVE moved into a new home and after removing the old stair carpet, I found some nice ceramic tiles on the floor that I want to keep.

Unfortunately there are gripper rods nailed and glued to the tiles that are hard to remove. The glue won't scrape off. What do you suggest? Mrs S Connah, by email AYOU can use a heat gun to soften the glue, then scrape most of it off with steel wool.

Then apply a glue remover which you can get at most DIY stores. I use Lithofin Wax Off, which removes glue by dissolving it, then you wash it off with water. To bring life back to the tiles, try Lithofin KF Tile Restorer.

QI'VE got a lot of damp in my ground floor flat. I've had it looked at by a professional and examined it myself. It is rising up the walls and the top screed layer of concrete has broken up as well. …
