NEW signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan says his move to United honours his late father.

The tragic early death of his dad has inspired the 27-year-old's football career - and he believes his arrival at Old Trafford is a fitting tribute.

United's new midfielder, who has joined the club for around Pounds 28m from Borussia Dortmund, lost his father Hamlet to a brain tumour at the age of 33 when the Reds' new midfielder was just seven years old.

Hamlet Mkhitaryan was a star striker with Armenian club FC Ararat Yerevan and the national side in the 1980s before he died.

"I believe playing for such a great club honours my father's memory, and the inspiration and drive he gave to me when I was young," said Henrikh.

"I am very proud to join Manchester United, this move is a dream come true for me. …
