Former K-State Basketball Player Rodney McGruder Signs with Miami Heat

Former Kansas State basketball player Rodney McGruder was signed Thursday by the Miami Heat of the NBA.

McGruder is currently playing for Miami's team in the Orlando Pro Summer League. Last season he played for the Heat's D-League affiliate, the Sioux Falls SkyForce, leading the team to the league championship by averaging 15.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

McGruder, who previously attended NBA camps with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics, signed a three-year, partially guaranteed contract with the Heat.

McGruder was honorable mention All-American as a senior at K- State in 2013, leading the Big 12 co-champion Wildcats with a 15.6 scoring average and 5.4 rebounds a game.
