Tink, Gene RayMay 19, 1926 July 9, 2016. Surrounded by his family, long time St. Louis area resident, Gene Tink passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on July 9, 2016. Born and raised in Granby, Missouri he joined the Army at age 17 and proudly served in WWII while stationed in Manilla, Phillipines and Osaka, Japan. He received several awards including Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, and American Theater Ribbon. After his military discharge in May, 1946, Gene attended the University of Missouri where he received an Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in Political Science and Education. His career as a teacher began in the University City School System and then continued at the Parkway School System until he retired. While attending the University of Missouri he met his wife of 61 years, Rosemary Mortimeyer Tink, who preceded him in death in 2011. …
