MANCHESTER City Women are set to play alongside their male counterparts from next season as the WSL revamp their competitive calendar.

From 2017 the new season will run from September to May, with a new competition bridging the gap between the end of the current 2016 campaign and the new 2017/18 season.

The move will see the likes of Manchester City and England's Steph Houghton, Jill Scott and Karen Bardsley complete their domestic season at the same time as the likes of Sergio Aguero and Joe Hart.

And concerns the move could affect the Lionesses UEFA Women's Euros 2017 preparation has been quelled with the launch of The Spring Series.

The one-off competition will bridge the gap between the campaigns with each team playing each other once from February to May. …
