Three Area Foodland Stores Switching to Piggly Wiggly

The Kanawha City Foodland, along with two other West Virginia Foodland locations, have switched franchise affiliations to Piggly Wiggly, a grocery company with stores in 17 states. Rick Joseph, the owner of the Kanawha City location, said his store, along with the Foodland locations in Sissonville and Eleanor, are in the process of switching their affiliation to Piggly Wiggly, which has its headquarters in New Hampshire.

The change for the three stores follows the lead of other West Virginia stores, including a Milton store, that have switched to the Piggly Wiggly brand in recent years.

The change, Joseph said, is expected to provide the local grocery store locations - all of which are independently owned - with better variety and better prices.
