Bosses in Talks over 11 New Destinations

MANCHESTER Airport bosses are in talks to secure a host of exciting new destinations.

Ken O'Toole, the hub's managing director, has revealed 11 hotspots that could be in the pipeline for direct flights from Manchester.

He has set his sights on more destinations in China, the US and India. Negotiations are taking place on routes including: Shanghai, Delhi, Mumbai, Houston, San Diego, Detroit, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Bangkok and Oman.

There have been whispers about a second route to mainland China for some time now among airport insiders - and they grew louder at the launch of Hainan Airline's Beijing service last month.

It does seem that Shanghai Pudong International Airport, hub to the country's biggest city and a global financial hub, is next in Manchester Airport's sights.

Mr O'Toole said: "It's one of those long-haul route opportunities which we think we are well positioned for in the short to medium term. …
