SWINTON Lions will take to the field at their future home for the first time on Saturday - and are inviting fans to come along.

The historic club has been based at a series of stadiums across Greater Manchester since being forced out of Station Road in 1992, but recently purchased the site at Agecroft and work is underway to construct a community stadium there. Now the Lions are hosting a Community Festival, which will include the club's first ever training session on the site of the proposed stadium.

It comes less than 24 hours before the club take on Dewsbury Rams in a key Kingstone Press Championship clash.

Chairman John Roddy said: "This will be a landmark day for the club and we hope to see many supporters and their families at the event to support us. …
