The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and West Virginia State University are putting together "Orchestra of the Hills," a flood relief benefit performance for the music programs of area schools. The concert will be held Saturday, July 30 at 4:30 p.m. at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston, under the direction of Dr. Scott Woodard.

During the June 23rd flood, several high schools lost music, instruments and equipment - all of it vital to the continuation of their programs.

Joe Tackett, president of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, said, "Right after the flood, our musicians, particularly our out- of-town musicians, started asking, What can we do? What kind of benefit can we do?'

Tackett added they also began getting word and pictures back from the schools the symphony had contact with. …
