SIESTA KEY

SIESTA KEY -- Construction on Siesta Key's second Daiquiri Deck began this week.

The restaurant could be serving patrons on the south end of the island as soon as next spring.

The Sarasota-based restaurant chain will occupy the top floor of the new, three-story building at 1250 Stickney Point Road near Midnight Pass Road.

The ground-level floor will be home to a 1,000-square-foot coffee shop and the second floor will be used for storage.

The restaurant's outdoor deck will overlook Stickney Point Road and the Intracoastal Waterway and will also offer partial views of Siesta Key beach and the Gulf of Mexico.

Venice-based J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. is the commercial contractor on the project and the architect is Mark H. …
